FHP report indicates driver fell asleep before vehicle hit fire hydrant in De La Vista

A motorist fell asleep before his utility vehicle struck a fire hydrant early Tuesday morning in the Village of De La Vista.

Christopher Michael Siebert, 31, of Umatilla, had been driving a 2007 Suzuki sport utility vehicle at about 6 a.m. westbound on San Marino Drive when he fell asleep, the vehicle left the roadway and struck the fire hydrant, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. 

Siebert escaped injury. He was ticketed on a charge of failure to drive in a single lane.

Repairs in the area prompted detours.
