FHP searching for driver who struck and killed 72-year-old Cocoa man

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the driver who struck and killed a 72-year-old Cocoa man Wednesday night on U.S. 1 in Brevard County.

Hurshell Cordell had been attempting to cross the roadway at 9:45 p.m. when he was struck and killed by a four-door Ford, according to an accident report from FHP. The driver fled the scene. Cordell was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner’s office.

The owner of the vehicle later contacted law enforcement about damage to the car. FHP is looking to identify the driver.
