A flooring contractor who allegedly stole $200 in coins, an Xbox and a laptop from a resident of Water Oak has been arrested on a warrant charging him with theft.

The Water Oak resident reported to Lady Lake police that she had hired Carvalho’s Exclusive Flooring LLC to put down laminate flooring at her home last month. After the work was done, she discovered the items were missing from her home.

When a police officer phoned 28-year-old Christopher Carvalho, he said he had cut his hand on a jar in which the coins were located. He said he got blood on the coins and wanted to clean them off. He said the coins were accidentally placed in his truck.

Police obtained a warrant for his arrest and he was picked up by law enforcement in Marion County. He was booked at the Marion County Jail on $2,000 bond.
