Floridians are now paying less for vehicle tags.
Tag fees for cars, trucks and motorcycles have dropped by about $17 to $25 each, depending on the type of vehicle and its weight.
The new rates went into effect Sept. 1.
The new law will eventually trim about $400 million from the fees and surcharges applied to license plate purchases, replacement or transfers and vehicle registration.
“This fee cut will result in an annual savings of $25 per typical motor vehicle,” Gov. Rick Scott said in a news release. “Families deserve to keep more of their hard-earned money, and we will now be able to save Floridians $400 million, because it’s their money.”
The fee increases were implemented in 2009 by then-Gov. Charlie Crist. He enacted the increases to help close a state budget shortfall.
