Former caregiver enters plea to charge of ripping off 90-year-old Villager

A 34-year-old woman and former caregiver to a 90-year-old Village of Mallory Square woman has pleaded not guilty to charges she raided the woman’s bank account.

A plea of not guilty was entered on behalf of Amanda Jane Warner to felony charges of fraud, larceny and exploitation of the elderly on Monday in Sumter County Court.

Warner had been acting as a caregiver for the woman who resides on Troy Loop. Warner allegedly took the woman’s debit card and drained $2,000 from her bank account.

She remains free on $6,000 bond following her arrest March 4. She is being represented by attorney William Jonathan Sheslow.

She is due back in court on June 14.
