A former Villages High School football player has been arrested on a charge of domestic battery for a second time Sunday afternoon in Belleview.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to a physical disturbance at a residence in Belleview where they made contact with 23-year-old Nigel Kashad Barker, who told the officers that he was in a verbal argument with the victim and that there was no physical altercation, according to an arrest affidavit.
The officers made contact with the victim who stated that Barker had struck her on the left side of the head, then choked her for approximately five to ten seconds to the point that her airway was restricted and she was unable to breathe, the report stated.
Officers observed definitive redness to the left side of the victim’s head and slight redness to her neck.
After police made contact for a second time with Barker, who stated there was no physical altercation, the victim advised officers again that Barker had struck and choked her.
The former Buffalo football player was placed under arrest for domestic battery by strangulation and transported to Marion County Jail.
