Four injured in accident east of Belleview

Four people were injured in an accident at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday east of Belleview when the Ford Explorer they were traveling in hit a utility pole and two mailboxes before overturning.

Blood was drawn from the driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Joshua C. Beckwith of Ocala, in a suspected of case of driving under the influence, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report. Beckwith suffered minor injuries in the accident and was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Dakota A. Rode, 20, and Austin M. Coleman-Miller, 17, both of Ocala, were passengers in the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. They also were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Coleman-Miller suffered a head injury but is expected to recover, according to the FHP report. Another 18-year-old was injured but the initial FHP report did not identify that individual.

The accident occurred at NE 35th Street east of Belleview. The roadway was closed for an hour and a half while the utility pole was replaced.
