Four people were hospitalized after crashing a stolen pest control truck early Wednesday morning in Marion County.
The Service Smart Pest Control vehicle, stolen a week earlier, was spotted at about 4:10 a.m. by an Ocala police officer. The truck was entering Interstate 75 north from Blitchton Road.
The stolen vehicle began traveling at a high rate of speed and fled when the officer tried to pull the vehicle over.
The driver lost control of the stolen 2014 Dodge Ram truck on the northbound off ramp at Exit 358 and crashed into a concrete utility pole.
At the time of the crash, two men were inside the vehicle and two men were in the bed of the truck.
The two men inside the vehicle fled southeast on foot. One was apprehended by the OPD officer and the other by a Marion County sheriff’s deputy. OPD backup arrived at the scene and made contact with the two males who were in the bed of the truck. One was unresponsive and urgent calls for EMS were made.
All four men were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
