Frances L. Hickey

Frances L. Hickey, of The Villages, FL, passed away Sept.10 at The Villages Regional Hospital. Frances was born Sept.25, 1935, daughter of Carl and Blanche (Farmer) Young.

She graduated from Tonganoxie, KS High School. Frances married Donald L. Hickey on June 19, 1953. Their 64 years of marriage were spent in Topeka, Tonganoxie, & McLouth, KS, and 2 years in Hot Springs Village, AR. They have resided in The Villages, FL for the past 22 years.

Fran was an afternoon regular at The Villages Hilltop pool and was well known for her many sewing crafts & projects. She was also a member of the Busy Hands, Happy Hearts Club.

Survivors include her husband Don, two sons and two daughters, John Hickey of Lawrence, KS, Sharon Molby & husband Frank of Lawrence, KS, Ed Hickey & wife Lisa of Topeka, KS, and Kathy Hickey of Lawrence, KS. Two grandchildren, Kelsee Torrez & Ryan Hickey – both of Topeka, KS. One surviving sister, Florence Somers of Tonganoxie, KS.

A memorial service will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages, FL 32159 on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 2 p.m. Friends & family will also meet after services at a Recreation center in The Villages to be announced. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
