Francis F. Laverty, 86, of The Villages, passed unexpectedly away Thursday, February 5, 2015. Francis, his wife, Patricia and his two daughters lived in Lakeville, CT for many years, where he was active in politics and served as Town Chairman of the Republican Party. He was manager of the Suburban Propane facility in Millerton, NY for many years. Francis and Patricia moved to the Outer Banks, NC and finally settled in The Villages in late 2004. He loved life, was an avid golfer, liked to fish and was outgoing and gregarious. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Stringer Laverty; two daughters, Lisa Sittler (Curtis), Sewickley, PA, Leslie Truitt, Torrington, CT; grandchildren; Lauren and Katelyn Sittler, Robert Truitt; two brothers, Richard and Jack Laverty, Hackettstown, NJ, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Memorial contributions may be made to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital http://www.charlottehungerford.org/donate/donate-now/. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 1 p.m. with the family receiving friends afterwards until 3 p.m.
