Frankie Brin 70s Win FHCASA Fall Brawl Senior Softball Tournament

Frankie Brin Financial (FBF) 70s traveled to the Foxworthy Softball Complex in Venice, Florida October 14-15, 2017 for the FHCASA Fall Brawl Senior Softball Tournament and won with a 4-0 record.

Saturday’s first game was a 20-11 victory over The Catfish Place.

Floyd Williams and Dave Sellars had 4 hits, with Floyd getting 4 RBI, 2 doubles and a triple, and Dave getting 2 RBI, with a double and a triple. Roger Scott, Darrel Smith, Chino Blanco, and Dick Kanyan had 3 hits.

The second game against Diamonds Are Forever (DAF) was a hard-fought contest with FBF coming out on top 9-7.

Chino Blanco had 3 hits with a double and triple.

Sunday’s first game against the Florida Venom was for the Championship. FBF won 17-15.

Timely hitting and outstanding defense, when it was needed, were the key elements to the Championship. Darrel Smith 4 hits with 3 RBI, Floyd Williams, Roy Hern, and Rod Severson had 3 hits. Dave Sellars 4 RBI, and Roy Hern 3 RBI. It was an exciting but exhausting game.

The Championship game was so exhausting that in the final game of the day against Chadwell Supply, FBF got 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to win 5-4.

In the 7th inning, with one out, Darrel Smith and Chino Blanco hit back to back doubles with one run scoring. Rod Severson got an Intentional base on balls (IBB) Bob Juhasz got a hit and John Rebardo hit a sacrifice fly for the win. Floyd Williams and Roy Hern did most of the running with others chipping in. Ed Krisha did an excellent job pitching all 4 games. His paralyzer pitch closed out the championship game with a strike out. It was a tremendous team effort. and Carl Roberts (.182).

Let them keep the fence!
