Free Sinkhole Survival Kits were being passed out Monday afternoon by Helicon Property Restoration President Jay Silver.
The water-bottle style kits, which included everything from compasses to bandages, were being distributed at the site of the Easter weekend sinkhole drama in the Buttonwood Heights neighborhood.
It was at this site that a sinkhole 60 feet wide and 60 feet deep opened up over the weekend, Silver said.
His company was at the center of the successful remediation of the property.
Forty cement trucks dumped in 400 cubic yards of grout to stabilize the site, he said.
The cost of the weekend remediation was $200,000 to $300,000, he said. The homeowners’ insurance company is picking up 100 percent of the tab, he added.
He said homes that have been saved with this type of remediation have had a “zero reoccurrence rate.”
The homeowner at the house on Chalmer Terrace has been away for the Easter weekend drama.
The homeowner next door, also threatened in the sinkhole incident, has also been away.
