Fresh “No Trespassing” signs are up at a problematic property in the Village of Palo Alto.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office descended on 1902 Antonia Place earlier this week and extricated five housemates of the property owner, an elderly man with health problems. The five people, one of them the owner’s niece, are all being held at the Sumter County Detention Center.
Two of the suspects have six-figure bonds, one is being held without bond.
The niece, 43-year-old Kathleen Unrath, is being held on $4,000 bond. Michael Edward Witkowski, 63, is being held on $4,500 bond. Witkowski was arrested last year after he was found squatting in a Villages home.
Should any of the five make bond, the “No Trespassing” signs posted on the front door and garage door presumably are there to make them aware they are not welcome to return.
It appears some cleanup has been taking place at 1902 Antonia Place. Several large garbage bags were at the end of the driveway Friday morning.
Frustrated, overwhelmed neighbors showed up earlier this month at a Community Development District 1 supervisors’ meeting to complain about the unkempt property located near Tierra Del Sol Recreation Center. They also hinted at what they suspected was illicit activity at the home.
