Fruitland Park woman arrested on battery charge after allegedly slapping man in front of child

A Fruitland Park woman was arrested on a battery charge after allegedly slapping a man in front of a child Sunday afternoon.

Brandy Lee Leedom, 33, of Fruitland Park was arrested on a charge of battery after striking the face of a victim Leedom has lived with at 35201 Cross St. since 2016, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. According to the victim, Leedom and a juvenile witness, the victim and Leedom got into a verbal altercation, at which point the victim called Leedom “a whore.” Leedom then struck the victim’s face numerous times with an open hand. The victim was uninjured and refused EMS.

The Department of Children and Families was notified due to the juvenile witnessing the battery. The victim provided a written statement but refused to provide an intent to prosecute.

Leedom was transported to Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $500. Arraignment has been set for Sept. 6.
