Glenn E. Shaffer

Glenn E. Shaffer, of The Villages, Florida, passed away quietly at home April 19, 2016.

Glenn was born in West Virginia on March 16, 1930 to George and Orma Shaffer.
He had four siblings who are all deceased. They were Mary, Wanda, George, and JoAnn.

He met his wife Ulah M. Berger while attending high school in Doylestown, Ohio. They were married on October 15, 1949, and spent most of their lives and raised three children in Wadsworth, Ohio.

Glenn was a tireless provider for his family. He worked at the Ohio Brass Company as a young man, became an expert commercial and residential carpenter in mid-life, and then finished his formal working career as a vocational carpentry teacher at Wadsworth High School where he taught for 19 years.

In retirement, Glenn and Ulah moved to The Villages, Florida. While there Glenn enjoyed golfing, playing euchre, and volunteering time at the Villages Woodworking Club. His favorite task at the woodworking club was building toys to be donated to children at Christmas time.

Surviving Glenn are his wife and lifelong partner Ulah, of The Villages, Florida, daughter Jill Manning (Mike) of Kentucky, son Mark Shaffer (Mary)of Colorado, and daughter Joan Milhoan of Colorado, as well as grandchildren Adam Manning, Amy Manning, Jeanne Shaffer, Scott Shaffer, Trent Shaffer, Matt Milhoan, and Kay Milhoan.

Glenn was a member of the New Covenant United Methodist Church, Villages Florida. A private family celebration of Glenn’s life will take place at a later date.
