Golf cart driver arrested on DUI charge in parking lot of Publix at Spanish Plaines

A 56-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning on a charge of driving under the influence when he was found in a golf cart in the parking lot of Publix at Spanish Plaines Shopping Center.

Brad Kendall Morrow had been at the wheel of a dark gray Par Car at 8:50 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. There was a small cooler in the golf cart which was found to contain four empty bottles of Smirnoff ICE and two empty cans of Mike’s Harder Lemonade, the report indicated. Morrow refused the deputy’s request to participate in field sobriety exercises. He also refused to provide a breath sample.

A criminal history check revealed that Morrow had two previous DUI convictions in Florida, in 2000 and 2003.

He as booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
