Golf cart driver arrested on DUI charge after round-about accident

A Villager was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence following a weekend golf cart accident in the round-about at South Buena Vista Boulevard and Pinellas Place.

Sumter County sheriff deputies responded to the head-on collision between two golf carts at 10 p.m. Saturday.

Robert Douglas Henry, 67, was driving a 2005 Yamaha golf cart that collided with a 2013 Yamaha golf cart, according to the arrest report. Henry’s wife was injured in the collision and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, the report indicated. The occupants of the other golf cart suffered no injuries, but their golf cart had to be towed from the scene, the report indicated.

Henry failed a field sobriety exercise and was transported to the Sumter County Detention where bond was set at $500.
