Golf legend Nancy Lopez will be honored in August at “The Langley, A Tribute To Legends,” at Pebble Beach, Calif.
It is the first time that two women golf greats – Lopez and Patty Sheehan – will be honored at the event set for Aug. 10-11.
Now in its seventh year, “The Langley” is a premier, two-day, fundraising event that gives guests a memorable experience and opportunity to get up close with golf’s legends. Previous legends honored at The Langley include Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Ken Venturi, Tom Watson, Johnny Miller and Billy Casper.
On Sunday, Aug. 10, Lopez and Sheehan – each a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame – will be honored at a dinner and special program with the legends at The Inn at Spanish Bay. On Monday, Aug. 11, the pro-am tournament is to be played at Pebble Beach Golf Links, followed by an awards reception.
In conjunction with the Northern California PGA Foundation, Capital Insurance Group hosts the event to provide guests and golfers with an opportunity to support charity organizations through the game of golf. Launched in 2008, the prestigious event is named after the late Jim Langley, a NCPGA Golf Professional of the Year and head professional for 34 years at the world-famous Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach. Langley always managed to give back to his community and the game, spending countless hours throughout his career volunteering his time for various events, particularly junior golfers.
The featured beneficiaries of “The Langley” this year include Special Olympics Northern California, AIM for the Handicapped, The Patty Sheehan Foundation, Saving Strokes, the Langley Scholarship Fund, Meals on Wheels of Monterey and the Northern California PGA Foundation.
