Jane Janes of the Village of Hadley was out in the golf cart Friday with her granddaughter Addie Bross behind the wheel.
Addie, visiting from Brownsburg, Ind., meets the requirement of being at least 14 years old to drive a golf cart in The Villages.
And Janes knows it’s important to model good behavior for her granddaughter. That means stopping at stop signs, obeying the speed limit and being courtesy to other golf carts, bicyclists and walkers sharing the multi-modal path.
Easter week may be the busiest time of year for grandchildren and golf carts in The Villages.
Every Villages grandparent knows how much children love riding in golf carts. And many grandchildren eagerly anticipate the day they can drive a golf cart.
But safety is of extreme importance, particularly for youngsters who can’t wait to get behind the wheel.
The Villages District Office provides copies of the Golf Cart Rules of the Road and Safety Tips available for download.Â
