Grandchildren and golf carts too often combine for risky behavior in The Villages

It seems like grandchildren are everywhere this time of year in The Villages.

Many are springbreakers vacationing here with their parents and staying with their grandparents.

And more grandchildren will soon be on their way as Easter is recognized as the peak of Grandchildren Season in The Villages.

But too often, grandchildren and golf carts add up to risky behavior in The Villages.

A reader shot a photo of a child last week on the back of a golf cart at the entrance to the Fernandina Villas.

Last year, a reader sent in a photo of a grandson crammed into the back of a golf cart.

Also last year, a reader spotted a couple of grandchildren riding in the back of a golf cart traveling down Canal Streets.

Too often, grandchildren are riding in golf carts without seatbelts, riding on laps and being given the opportunity to drive underage. One must be at least 14 to drive a golf cart in The Villages.
