A gun, drugs, and cash were recovered Wednesday from a vehicle during a traffic stop near a church in Lady Lake.
A police officer spotted a northbound vehicle on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 traveling 65 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A traffic stop was initiated at the Sunoco service station at 413 U.S. Hwy. 27/441.
The driver of the automobile, 24-year-old Aljanard Levone Allen Jr. of Leesburg, consented to a search of the vehicle which turned up a black Ruger model LC9 firearm with a magazine inside it filled with ammunition. The gun had been located on the passenger side floor board. The serial number had been scratched off, the arrest report indicated. Also found in the vehicle was 456 grams of marijuana, broken into 16 bags of 28.5 grams each. Located in the vehicle’s center console was $521 in cash.
Allen, a convicted felon, was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a place of worship and possession of a firearm with the serial number removed. The arrest took place near the Lady Lake Church of God.
He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $22,000 bond.
