Guy Leo Babcock

Guy Leo Babcock, 91, of Fruitland Park, FL, passed away December 18, 2017.

Born in Greene, NY, he moved from North Syracuse, NY to Fruitland Park in 1986. Guy was a farmer and an engineer for General Electric, where he retired. He served in the Pacific theater for the Army in World War II. Guy enjoyed buying and selling various items, building and tinkering, and was an auctioneer. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church for over 30 years.

Guy is survived by Betty Babcock, his loving wife of 68 years, children, Nancy Carnahan, of Bastrop, TX, Gail (Michael) O’Donnell, of East Syracuse, NY, Rick (Michelle) Babcock, of Watertown, NY, Connie Thompson, of Fruitland Park and Alex (Maxine) Babcock, of Calvert, TX, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Bertha Bell and Hilda Seager, both of Cortland, NY, and Joyce Stottlar of Brewerton, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and his great-grandson, Jimmy Kounovsky.

A viewing will be held from noon until 1 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2017, at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, 1123 W. Main St., Leesburg, FL34748 followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m., with interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
