Harry Clyde Turney, 88, Summerfield, FL went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2013 under the loving care of his family and staff of Tuscany Hospice House in Summerfield, FL. Mr. Turney was born on July 8, 1925 in Portland, Indiana. He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with over 38 years employment. He and his wife Alice moved to Central Florida in 1980 from Jackson, Michigan and he was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He was especially devoted to The Villages Church of Christ and was an avid skilled golfer who had seven holes in one during his life. He and Alice enjoyed square dancing and spent many hours watching sporting events for their children and grandchildren, as well as local teams such as C.F.C.C. and the “Gators”. He also enjoyed spending time with his church friends and friends from Spruce Creek South. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years: Alice Turney of Summerfield, FL; a son: Harry M. (Mary) Turney of Jackson, MI; a daughter: Linda (Ron) Straight of Jackson, MI; three grandchildren: Andy Straight of Tacoma, WA, Rachel (Brett) Justice of Holt, MI and Harry C. Turney of Kalamazoo, MI; two nieces: Debbie (Ramon) Scott and Tina Glaser both of Indiana and his cat Taz. He was preceded in death by his parents Murdock and Minnie Kerr and a brother Charles Turney. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 1:00PM at The Villages Church of Christ at 1421 Oak Street Lady Lake, Florida 32159. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his loving memory to The Villages Church of Christ in Lady Lake. Online condolences may be left by visiting www.pagetheusfuneral.com.
