Helen A. McLane, 87, resident of The Villages, died Wednesday, July 16th. Born in Moosic, PA, Miss McLane was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice (O’Neill) McLane. Following graduation from St. John’s High School in Scranton, she worked for 33 years in The Bell Telephone Company. She was proud of her achievements there, notably as the first woman to reach her level of management in the company. Upon retirement in 1980, Miss McLane relocated to Harrisburg, PA, where she indulged her love of travel with a world cruise and other trips, and became very active in the Telephone Pioneers and Special Olympics. Miss McLane moved to The Villages in 1995. She was a communicant in St. Timothy Catholic Church, participated in the St. Timothy’s Singles, created costumes for the Way, Way, Way Off Broadway Players, continued to travel, and enjoyed puzzles of all kinds, computer games and home decorating projects. She is survived by nieces Colleen McLane Schwartz of Plainsboro, NJ, Daisann McLane of Hong Kong and New York City, Maryalice S. Moroz of Warrington, PA, and by great-nieces Aidan and Allison Moroz of Warrington, PA. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014, in St. Timothy Catholic Church at 8:30 AM. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Harrisburg, PA, at a later date.
