Hitting golf balls in common areas and dogs off leash

To the Editor:

The following observations have been made by me, a frequent user of both the Mulberry Dog Park and the Mulberry Recreation Center. Last week a golf ball landed inside the dog park which could have come from one of several people hitting balls on the vacant land between the park and the golf courses. There seems to be someone using this area as a practice range every day. Also, with the influx of winter vacationers, I have noticed more people ignoring the leash rule while allowing dogs to run and play in the same area even though the dog park is right there. No one was hit by the ball that landed inside the park, but, this practice is obviously dangerous as are dogs off leash. When is The Villages going to patrol and enforce the rules in place that are there to address both issues? It seems simple signage would be the least that could be done.
