Two homeless people were arrested after they apparently took up residence in an empty house in Lady Lake.
A citizen had flagged down Lady Lake police last week in regard to possible homeless people living in a wooded area off Arlington Avenue. The officer found a tent and clothing that appeared to have been abandoned for a couple of weeks. However, an inspection of an empty home at 38430 Arlington Avenue showed that items in the home had been moved and there were some fresh beer cans present and an ashtray with cigarette butts. A trailer on the property also had a mattress in it as well as personal hygiene products for both a man and woman.
Taken into custody when they arrived back at the property were 66-year-old Linda Fay Mierzejewski and 50-year-old Mark Lee Roberts.
Both were booked at the Lake County Jail on charges of burglary to a residence.
Roberts had been arrested earlier this year. You can read about that arrest HERE
