A homeowner in the Village of Amelia could face a $250 fine for overgrown weeds following a public hearing Friday morning in front of the Community Development District 6 Board of Supervisors.
The homeowners at the property at 582 Lacy Place have three days to bring the property into compliance. If not, the homeowners, Michael and David Joseph, will face the fine.
The $250 fine will be imposed if the property is not brought into compliance within three days.
Community Standards has communicated by phone with the homeowners who have indicated they believe the property is in compliance. The homeowners would not come to the door when Community Standards knocked.
Supervisors indicated something needs to be done to remedy the situation.
“It’s a case of cleaning it up. It’s not just a matter of spraying some Roundup. It’s an eyesore for the neighbors,” said CDD 6 Supervisor Peter Moeller.
