To the Editor:
American economist Thomas Sowell said, ”Some immigrant groups have made great contributions to American society, and others have contributed mainly to the welfare rolls and prisons. The same has been true of Sweden and other countries in Europe and elsewhere.”
Generalities about compassion and anecdotal stories from the early 1900’s are not relevant. We seem to refuse to see the facts about which immigrants tend to improve America and which ones tend to drag us down. (Facts that are readily available.)
Irish statesman Edmund Burke said, ”The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
Entry into the U.S.A. is not a civil right. Enforce the law(s). Change what doesn’t work or make sense. We should encourage those that tend to improve America to come here and reject those that tend to drag us down. How can we tell the difference? Start with the facts!
