A man was arrested on multiple charges after a violent, profanity-laced outburst at an eye doctor’s office.
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to The Villages Eye Institute in the Oakland Hills Professional Center off U.S. Hwy. 441.
Taken into custody was Ward R. Walker, 56, of Ocala, who is facing charges of battery, criminal mischief and disturbing the peace.
Walker had grown impatient while in the waiting room, according to an arrest report. He barged past the receptionist, used vulgar language and spit at her, the arrest report indicated. He went down the hallway to the patients’ rooms and sat cross-legged in the hallway and refused to leave. He then got up and punched a display case knocking it to the ground. He used vulgar language again before exiting the building.
During his transport to the Sumter County Detention Center, he continued to be belligerent and directed insults at a deputy.
Bond was set at $3,000.
