A motorcyclist was airlifted from the scene of a crash causing traffic congestion Monday afternoon on Interstate 75 in Alachua County.
Shannon Murphy, 43, of Pinellas Park had been riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on I-75 approaching Mile Marker 398 when he lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn onto its side, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The interstate was briefly shutdown for a helicopter to airlift Murphy to Shands Hospital.
The report indicated he had not been wearing a helmet.
