An intoxicated Summerfield man was arrested after an 11-year-old boy called 911 as the result of an altercation between the man and his mother.

Williams Douglas Hoskins, 43, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July following the alleged altercation at his home on SE 90th Avenue in Summerfield.

A woman told police that she had refused to give Hoskins a set of car keys because he “had at least 10 beers,” according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Hoskins allegedly struck the woman in the upper chest area, causing her to fall against the kitchen sink. As she attempted to run outside to get away from Hoskins, she told her son to call 911.

Hoskins denied anything had happened and told the deputy the woman “just went crazy.” The report indicated that Hoskins appeared to be intoxicated and would not directly answer questions.

He was arrested on a charge of battery and booked at the Marion County Jail.
