A 54-year-old woman who came home intoxicated was arrested after an altercation with a man Monday night in the Village of Caroline.

Margarita E. Koch arrived before 9 p.m. at a residence on Hammond Place, but was so intoxicated she kept falling down, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A man tried to help her into the residence, but she tried to strike him in the face and bite him, the report indicated. She then dug her fingernails into the man’s forearm, breaking the skin.

The man declined medical treatment, but signed an intent to prosecute form.

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on a charge of battery. Bond was set at $500.
