The trailers and pre-views for “Hell or High Water” are terrific. Two brothers, Toby and Tanner, seek vengeance for a bank swindling their mother out of their family ranch using a reverse mortgage scheme.  Toby (Chris Pine) has a family and leads a responsible life, while Tanner (Ron Foster) is a trigger happy ex-con.

Toby thinks it is only right that they quietly rob the secluded bank branches of the mortgage holder, and launder the money through an Indian Casino to pay off the debt.  The plan seems to work on a Jessie James or Robin Hood plateau except when Tanner starts firing his gun.

Retired Sheriff Jeff Bridges who plays a waiting game of staking out the next probable heist location is perfect in this role.

This is a straight-out “guy” film.  Entertaining but not much depth.  Rate this one a C+.

The show is currently running at the Rialto Theater in The Villages.
