John Anthony Porta, 59, of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away on November 14, 2016 in The Villages. John was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Robert & Ann Marie Porta on June 24, 1957. He went to Astronaut High School, Titusville, FL and graduated in 1975. He attended the University of Central FL. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He worked in the construction industry for many years beginning in his early 20’s and eventually became a Realtor. His real estate career began by selling vacant land in Volusia County, FL then working for a home builder. He eventually relocated to The Villages, working for Realty Executives and expanding his business, becoming a well-known and top producing agent in the area with more than 3,000 lifetime transactions to his credit. He received numerous accolades in the industry. He was a Sir Knight of the Knights of Columbus Assembly 2722, a Eucharist Minister at St. Timothy’s and was active in the Pro-life movement. He enjoyed all water sports, fishing, boating and skiing. He also was an avid snow skier and made annual trips out west with friends and family to ski the slopes. His passion in life was sharing his love for Christ, spending time soaking up the sun while cooking on the grill to provide meals for family, friends and others. He was a grill master!  John is survived by his wife, Esther; his children, Justin, Nicole and Blake Porta; parents, Robert & Ann Marie Porta; siblings, Joseph Porta (Linda Marlow), Robert Porta (Robin), Michael Porta (Libbi), Roseann Porta, Daniel Porta (Ronda), and Mary Frances Porta; and a large number of extended family members. Visitation will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church on Friday, November 18 from 3 –5 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Lady Lake on Saturday, November 19, at 10 a.m. with Father Ed Waters, celebrant. Burial will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Timothy’s Catholic Church for St. Vincent de Paul Society or Knights of Columbus, 1351 Paige Place, Lady Lake, FL 32159 or Jess Parrish Medical Foundation for Cancer Care, PO Box 2969, Titusville, FL 32781.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Father Ed Waters of St. Timothy’s and the church community for their love, prayers and support given to John and the family.
