John Rohan of Recreation Department to speak to Villages Republicans

The Villages Director of Recreation John Rohan will speak to The Village Republican Club of Sumter County at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and socializing.

Rohan has worked for the Recreation Department in The Villages for 22 years.  He has witnessed and experienced firsthand the positive impact recreation has on residents of this community. There is something for everyone to get involved in to improve their quality of life. Rohan encourages residents’ involvement in creating a healthy and active lifestyle in this community with more than 33 recreation centers, 77 swimming pools and 2,300 clubs. The Recreation Department oversees executive golf, Lake Sumter Landing Boats, Fitness Cubs, Special Events, and Room Reservations. These faculties are managed with a budget of $18 million per year and 463 full and part-time employees.
