Jon F. Fortney

Jon Fortney, age 68, a resident of the Village of Tall Trees in The Villages, FL, died on October 3, 2017 after a very aggressive battle with cancer.
He was born April 22, 1949 in Viroqua, WI to Conrad and Sylvia Fortney.

He is survived by his mother, Sylvia, his wife Ginny Keating Fortney, brothers Craig and Chris and sister Ann Reed (Craig Reed). Jon has nine children and 6 grandchildren. Amy Chamberlin, (Wisc)., Darren Fortney, (wife Jen), Kevin Fortney,(Alaska), Ken Keating (wife-Caroline), Luke Fortney (wife Mandy), Kirk Keating, (Jacksonville, Fl) Ben Fortney (wife Gillian), Sarah Fortney,(Scotland), and Kevin Keating,(Atlanta, Ga).
Jon retired from Anheuser Busch in Baldwinsville, NY and Cartersville, GA after a 22 year career as a brewing supervisor. He and his wife Ginny moved to The Villages in 2005.  He was a dedicated volunteer for Operation Shoebox and picked up furniture for the Operation Shoebox thrift store and supported the troops in every way possible. Jon also worked as a starter on Bonifay Golf Course during his 10 year employment with GMS. He was an avid golfer and football fan. He was the commissioner of the “Village People” fantasy football league. Enjoying friends and family were his favorite past times.  Jon is a member of Hope Lutheran Church.
A celebration of life will be held at Hope Lutheran Church (corner of CR 466 & Morse Blvd) The Villages, FL on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 3:30 pm with a reception in Hope Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
