Joyce B. Robertson

Joyce B. Robertson

Joyce B. Robertson, 81, formally of the Village of Piedmont, The Villages, FL, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in Hughson, CA. Mrs. Robertson, the daughter of Reverend Wilmer and Ethel Blackmon, was born on January 5, 1936 in Jackson, MS. She was the oldest of three Blackmon daughters.

The family relocated to Norfolk, VA during her teenage years and she attended Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN following her high school graduation. At this point, Joyce entered the workforce where her accomplished skills as a secretary, along with her warmth, humility and interpersonal skills lead to progressive executive secretary/administrative assistant opportunities until her retirement in September 2000.

Joyce met and ultimately married Cal Robertson on March 27, 1982 in Los Angeles, CA. They were blessed with a wonderful 35+ year marriage residing in Los Angeles, CA, Memphis, TN, Branson, MO and The Villages, FL before moving to California in August 2017 to be near family.

Joyce had a strong faith in Jesus Christ which showed through in her warm smile, humble spirit, gentle demeaner and care for others. She was an avid reader of biblical and devotional books. This faith led to a unique lay ministry opportunity with her husband following retirement. Together, Cal and Joyce wrote biblical stories to share God’s love which have been radio broadcasted by Christ To The World Ministries. She also loved music. Singing with her sisters and husband along with playing the piano were sources of joy and worship.

Joyce will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her husband Cal; son, Glenn (Cindy Jo) McFarland of Turlock, CA; step-daughter, Jenise (Don) Clausen of North Bend, WA; sister, Edna (Ed) Aldridge of Florida; six grandchildren, Whitney (Mark) Purcell, Kelley (Tyler) Alexander, Patrick McFarland, Sarah (Matt) Whitton, Bryce Robertson and Ryan Robertson and five great grandchildren, Ava and Emma Purcell, Graham Alexander, Lena and Ellison Whitton as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Gwendolyn, and step-son, Cal Jr.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. at New Life Christian Center in Turlock, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Christ To The World Ministries, Community Hospice Hughson, CA or the Alzheimer’s Association.
