Joyce Mae Johns

Joyce Mae Johns, age 80, The Villages, FL, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Joyce was a graduate of Elyria High School, before attending Baldwin-Wallace College, where she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority and graduated with a degree in education. She taught elementary school and remedial reading for over 25 years in Elyria, Ohio.

Joyce enjoyed retirement living in The Villages, Florida where she was a member of the North Lake Presbyterian Church and the Lynnhaven Ladies. She enjoyed music, trips to Amish Country, and ice cream. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Richard. She is survived by her children Kathleen (Vinnie) Rivera and Christopher (Annie) Johns; grandson Dylan; sister Barbara and brother Robert (Jan).

A service will be held at Beyer’s Funeral Home in Lady Lake, Florida on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 3 p.m. Rev. Dan Baumann will officiate. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be sent to the Elyria Schools Endowment fund.
