Judyth Rose Simaytis, 77, formerly of Lady Lake, FL, of Port Byron, IL, formerly of Kewanee, IL, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at her new home which she recently snuggled into.

She was born February 11, 1940 in Kewanee, the daughter of Duward E. and Hazel M. (Walton) Purvis. She married John A. Simaytis on June 14, 1958 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on August 12, 2001. Judyth was her beloved husbands’ primary caregiver for several years prior to his death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother in-law, Joseph Simaytis and his wife, Judy K. Simaytis.

Judyth graduated from Annawan High School in 1957. She worked as a farm wife, mother, beautician, interior decorator and seamstress. She had been part-owner of the Farmhouse Restaurant in rural Kewanee. Judyth had many hobbies that she enjoyed and was a former member of the Henry County Homemakers Extension Association where she made many good friends. She had attended the First United Methodist in Kewanee.

Survivors include her two sons, Mark (Deborah) Simaytis of Kewanee and Matthew (Deborah) Simaytis of Port Byron, her nephew, John J. (Allesandra) Simaytis of Galva and niece, Mellissa Simaytis of Perry, IA. Judyths’ (sister at heart) Mary Lou (Huffman) Yarger also survives along with many close friends in Lady Lake Florida, Camp Hauburg and friends in the Port Byron area. She was also survived by her fluffy companion cat, Prince Alexander.

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, IL. Rev. Trisha Chapman will officiate. Inurnment will be held in Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee, IL.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
