K-9 assists in arrest of Historic Side resident during traffic stop near Village of Bonita

Ryan Stewart Ledoux

A K-9 assisted in the arrest of a Historic Side resident during a traffic stop Tuesday morning near the Village of Bonita.

Ryan Stewart Ledoux, 24, of 1868 W. Schwartz Blvd., had been driving a Dodge Dakota with an expired registration at 6:38 a.m., according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

He was pulled over at the intersection of Bonita Boulevard and Canal Street. A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the dog alerted on Ledoux’s vehicle, indicating the presence of drugs. Ledoux admitted he had a marijuana grinder in the vehicle’s center console. About 1 gram of marijuana was also found in the vehicle. Ledoux said the grinder was his, but claimed the marijuana belonged to a friend.

He was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment. He was also issued warnings for driving with an expired registration and driving with a license suspended due to failure to meet financial obligations.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.
