K-9 assists in arrest of man with marijuana at Buffalo Ridge Wal-Mart

A K-9 named “Mace” assisted in the arrest of man with marijuana on Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza.

Wilfred Colon, 53, who lives in the Peppertree Apartments in Wildwood, was pulled over at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was spotted driving without a seatbelt, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The K-9 unit arrived on the scene and the dog alerted on Colon’s vehicle. He was found to be in possession of marijuana and a hypodermic needle.

He was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $2,000.
