Kenneth Eugene Mathieu, 79, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015. Ken and his wife Dotty moved to The Villages in 1999 from Manville, NJ. He was a Night Crew Manager for Acme Markets retiring in 1993. Ken was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church where he was an Altar Server, Knights of Columbus 10034, and receiving Knight of the Year. He was also a member of The New Jersey Club, was a Representative for The Village of Santiago for The Villagers Homeowners Association and served on the Helping Hands Committee. Ken and Dotty were very helpful to others, serving as volunteers at The Villages Regional Hospital for many years. They were recognized for their volunteer efforts by receiving The Martin Luther King Award for Volunteerism. He enjoyed his golf, the Yankees, the Giants and Disney. Winning the Knights of Columbus Golf Tournament was his greatest achievement after his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Elsie Ubry Mathieu; siblings, Alfred Mathieu, Jr., Georgette Kiester, Muriel, Ellingham, Jeanne McPherson, Phyllis McPherson, Elwood Mathieu and Patricia McFadden. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Mathieu; children, Patricia Lancaster(Glen), Judy Burke(Vinnie), Lisa Tarantino(Jody), Kelly Baccarini(Fred), Kenneth Mathieu, Jr.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Longordo(Robert), Isabelle Pierrot and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 12 at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages with interment following at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
