Lady Lake Commissioners will have some tough decisions to make when they meet Monday.
Facing the projected loss of nearly $650,000 in communications services tax revenue next year, commissioners are looking at options, and none of them are appealing.
Option 1: No raises for city employees. No cost of living raises. No merit raises.
Option 2: Find cuts in the budget. Commissioners spent nearly three hours Thursday morning reviewing a detailed analysis of the budget for the coming year. They looked at everything from symbolic choices such as cutting commissioners’ travel and training (about $1,500) to the prospect of delaying for a year repaving of Avenida Central ( $760,000.)
Option 3: Raise taxes.Â
At the conclusion of Thursday’s budget workshop, Mayor Ruth Kussard told her fellow commissioners to think it over during the weekend.
Most commissioners agree, there are no good choices.
The commission meets at 6 p.m. Monday at Lady Lake Town Hall.
