A 38-year-old Lady Lake man is facing a charge of first degree murder in the death of his 18-month-old daughter.
Jeremy Alan Main was scheduled to face a judge in a first appearance Tuesday morning in Lake County Court to answer to the charge.
Main was taken into custody Monday after he turned himself in at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Annex in The Villages. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and later transferred to the Lake County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
Hours earlier, Main had called his wife, who was at work in Ocala. He reportedly told her he had killed their daughter.
She made a frantic 911 call and soon Lake County sheriff’s deputies rushed to her home on Redbug Road in rural Lady Lake.
The deputies forced their way into the home after there was no answer at the door. They discovered the little girl had been drowned in a bathtub. Main had fled the home.
The couple has two other children. Â
