A 28-year-old Lady Lake man is among two dead as the result of a three-vehicle crash Thursday night in Marion County.
John Ballard was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred at 9:20 p.m. on County Road 484. Also pronounced dead at the scene was 13-year-old Taquoia Schroeder of Leesburg.
Ballard’s 2000 Nissan Frontier was traveling west in eastbound lane of CR 484 when it was struck by a 2012 Chevy Sonic driven by 39-year-old Kalisha Felice Jones of Leesburg. Ballard’s vehicle went out of control and began overturning, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Ballard’s vehicle then struck a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by 25-year-old Devon C. Phillip of Dunnellon.
Schroeder had been a passenger in Jones’ vehicle. Jones suffered serious injuries and was transported to UF Health Shands in Gainesville. Another passenger, 10-year-old Andre Mobley of Leesburg, suffered minor injuries.
Phillip suffered minor injuries and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
