A 26-year-old Lady Lake man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence early Monday morning on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 at West Lady Lake Boulevard.

Louis Henry Haynes Jr. of 112 Neil Court had been spotted driving recklessly, swaying on the road and hitting the curb more than once, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Haynes’ vehicle hopped the curb and pulled into the grassy area at Lady Lake Boulevard when the officer pulled him over.

Haynes denied he had been drinking and stumbled as he was getting out of his car, the arrest report indicated.

He failed field sobriety exercises, at one point telling the officer, “C’mon man, you know I can’t do this.”

He later provided breath samples that registered .178 and .173 blood alcohol content.

Haynes was booked at the Lake County Jail and later released after posting $1,000 bond.

He is due for arraignment Dec. 2 in Lake County Court.
