Lady Lake police have tracked down a suspect in the theft of $1,451 in merchandise from Target.

A man entered the store at Rolling Acres Plaza on June 16 and took speakers, Beats headphones, digital video baby monitors and miscellaneous fragrances and left the store without paying for them, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He left the store in a beige van and a license plate number was recorded. Police tracked the van to the home of its registered owner in Summerfield.

There a man told police the van belonged to his girlfriend who was being held at the Sumter County Detention Center. The man said he had loaned the van to 37-year-old David John Richard.

A warrant was obtained for Richard, who is currently being held at the Marion County Jail on charges of battery and kidnapping.
