This home at 1011 Aloha Way is to be annexed into the town of Lady Lake.

The Villages has won preliminary permission to annex 11 homes into the Town of Lady Lake.

The Villages had won the blessing of  the town’s Planning and Zoning Board in August. On Wednesday night, the town’s commissioners approved the plan on first reading of an ordinance for annexation. A second reading will take place Oct. 5.

Homes impacted are located at:

1011 Aloha Way

806 Beechwood Ave.

913 Cindy Drive

104 Nell Way

1015 Nell Way

1321 Paradise Drive

918 Tarrson Blvd.

1316 Teakwood Lane

704 Truman Ave.

819 Truman Ave.

1028 Vermont Way

The 11 homes will appear on the Lady Lake tax rolls if the commission gives annexation final approval.

The Villages has been removing old manufactured homes on the Historic Side and replacing them with site-built homes. The Villages has already bought up about 50 properties.

It has presented the opportunity to annex the homes into the Town of Lady Lake.

Years ago, residents of The Villages’ section of Lady Lake were given the choice of whether to annex into Lady Lake. Those who didn’t annex in, remained part of Lake County. However, those homeowners still receive services such as police and fire protection even though they don’t pay taxes to Lady Lake.

The “enclaves” include more than 700 homes in The Villages’ section of Lady Lake/Lake County.

The Villages had previously expressed a desire to see the new homes it is building on the Historic Side to be annexed into Lady Lake.

“You’ll see more of these in the future,” said Thad Carroll, of the town’s growth management department.

He said he anticipates The Villages will be bringing these forward in batches of 8 at a time.
