Lake Butler man dies following crash in Alachua County

A Lake Butler man died Thursday evening following a car crash in Alachua County.

Brandon Sabish, 20, of Lake Butler was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger eastbound on Country Road 236 when a 2016 Honda Accord, driven by Nicholas Coullias, 32, of Gainesville, that was also eastbound on CR 236 collided with the rear of Sabish’s vehicle, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Daniel Jenkins, 23, was a passenger inside Sabish’s vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt, the report stated. Jenkins was ejected from the vehicle as the two vehicles traveled to the south shoulder of the roadway.

Sabish and Coullias were both transported to UF Health at Shands Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Jenkins was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident by the Alachua County Fire Rescue.

The exact cause of this crash remains under investigation.
