Year round, Lake County celebrates the companies and employees who make quality products and provide valuable jobs within the community. But during October, Manufacturing Month in Florida, the county is taking an enhanced approach to highlighting the businesses that are key cogs in creating a diverse and sustainable local economy.
In fact, Lake County is home to more than 300 manufacturing companies, boasting nearly 8,000 employees who produce a wide variety of goods including specialized tools, communications equipment, as well as aerospace, medical and automotive products. Totaling 7 percent, Lake County’s manufacturing workforce numbers are well above the state average of 4 percent.
That’s why Lake County Economic Growth and the Communications Department are announcing a multi-faceted campaign to bring awareness to the importance of manufacturing to Lake County’s economy. The initiative launchesOct. 1 and will spotlight innovations by local companies such as Electron Machine, VacTron, Eagle Quality, CaptiveAire and Qualtools, to name a few. Additional information about these, and dozens more businesses can be found on the Made in Lake website at www.madeinlake.com. The site promotes local manufacturing companies, creates new connections and gives businesses the available resources needed to prosper. Lake County manufacturers are welcome to register, free of charge, to benefit from this professional networking opportunity.
“We have a vested interest in Lake County’s economic prosperity, and manufacturing is one of our most important niche markets,” said Robert Chandler, Lake County Economic Growth Director. “Lake County’s economic base is the manufacturing industry and we are proud to support both new and expanding manufacturing businesses, as well as the manufacturing workforce, because we know that manufacturers create high wage jobs and strengthen our local and regional economy.”
